TOPIC
Fixes recurring error: 'Terrain Navigator does not appear to be installed on this PC.'
DOWNLOADS
Introduction This application is for customers with Terrain Navigator Pro, and/or Terrain Navigator Pro Network Edition with version 8.0, 8.5, or 8.51 who wish to install their older version of the application onto a computer running the 64-bit edition of Windows 7. (This is also sometimes referred to as the x64 edition.) Due to a change that Microsoft made in the implementation of the Windows Registry, the 8.0, 8.5, and 8.51 versions of Terrain Navigator will not install properly in Windows 7 x64. (This issue was not present in the Windows Vista 64-bit edition which was the current Microsoft Operating System at the time of their development.) This download corrects this change within the installation of Terrain Navigator Pro, making it possible to complete the configuration process for new states. This fix is only required for versions 8.0, 8.5 or 8.51 of Terrain Navigator Pro. Those with version 8.6 (or later) need not to download this patch. Those with Terrain Navigator Standard Edition should download version 8.71 or upgrade to the current version of Terrain Navigator Pro. Those who have an active subscription for aerial photos and software upgrades should not download this patch. Instead, please uninstall Terrain Navigator Pro 8.x and instead download and install the current version by logging into your Registration account. Errors Received During the process of configuring Terrain Navigator Pro to accept the state (or states) included in the package, computers running Windows 7 x64 will report the following error: Terrain Navigator does not appear to be installed on this PC. Please insert the Terrain Navigator 'INSTALLER' DVD to begin the setup process. Doing so simply repeats the process. Those with the Network Edition of Terrain Navigator Pro receive the following error once the application is setup on the client workstation: 'Terrain Navigator Pro Network' system corrupt, reinstall product from original CD Reinstalling has no effect on this error. Applying the Fix After receiving one of these error messages, press OK. Then, run the file below. This fix will adjust the system registry to allow the further use of Terrain Navigator Pro. Once this fix is applied, no further fixes will be required (unless you are re-installing Terrain Navigator on a new Windows 7 x64 machine.) For Terrain Navigator Pro Network Edition, no further action is needed; the state(s) have already been installed on your network server - running this fix merely establishes the link from the client workstation to the network server. For Terrain Navigator Pro and Terrain Navigator Standard Edition, an additional step is required to configure Terrain Navigator to recognize the CD (or DVD) discs in the state(s) you have purchased. Once the fix is applied, start Terrain Navigator. A window will appear with 4 buttons: Demo, Install New CD, Help, and Exit. Press Install New CD and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the configuration process. Can I get this update on DVD? Yes. This update has been incorporated in the current release of Terrain Navigator Pro. Call us at 877-587-9004 to order a current Installer DVD; the cost is $25 (for qualifying customers.) How To Download Click the link below. In most instances, your web browser will ask if the file should be Opened, or Saved to your computer. Choose Save, then select a location to Save the downloaded file In. If you are unfamiliar with downloading and applying software patches, we recommend choosing your "Desktop"; select Save In, Desktop and press Save. Once the download completes, double-click the downloaded application that appears on your Desktop. This will apply the download to your Terrain Navigator installation. Once that process is completed, you may run Terrain Navigator, finish the process of Installing New CDs (if required), and (once working) delete the download from your Desktop. Please note: Do NOT save this update in the same folder as your existing Terrain Navigator application. Doing so may corrupt your installation, requiring a complete re-install to correct.
