Bushwhacking with Terrain Navigator

BUSHWHACKING WITH TERRAIN NAVIGATOR
Stu Bristol, Outdoor Writer
The term “Bushwhacking” describes the roughest form of off-road navigation. In Colonial times, adventurers would strike out through the wilderness using only their woodsmanship skills and a simple magnetic compass to guide their way. Today, bushwhacking has become a sport for outdoor enthusiasts. Thanks to modern technology, striking out into the wilderness on their own is no longer a highly dangerous endeavor.
The “orienteering” style magnetic compass has taken the guesswork out of plotting routes and bearings. Satellite technology and the hand-held GPS (Global Positioning Satellites)receiver have given bushwhackers even more confidence. Here’s how even novice outdoorspeople can get into this exciting new style of outdoor recreation.
To get started, you’ll need maps printed from Terrain Navigator, a Compass, and (optional) GPS receiver.
